Chrome is Slippin!
Chrome has officially released their new Tobruk slip-on shoe, available in both Black and Grey Cordura. I personally prefer slip-ons so I just might pick up a pair in the near future.
The Tobruk is filled with details that make riding in them easier and the shoe, itself, tougher. Those features include:
· Low profile design to better fit into a toe cage
· 100% vulcanized construction
· Weatherproof 1,000 denier Cordura with back-padding
· Re-enforced nylon/glass fiber shank to support the midsole
· Board lasted sole to eliminate pedal hot spot
· Skid resistant contact rubber on the sole
· Polyurethane contoured crash pad insole
· Durable rubber heel cup with reflective safety hit
· Center gore slip-on design

Check our more photo and cop a pair here! Major shoutout to Jackie at Chrome for showing us some love!

These all look great (including those in the Chrome special a bit ago), but I just can’t wear shoes. It’s either steel-toed boots in the shop, or sandals while at home and on the bike.
I can’t even do Keen’s… as they have a toe protection thingy on them. I need air to pass beneath and over my feet. Otherwise they get too hot. I’ve tried the Shimano-SPD sandals, and those are a joke. Sticking with the one’s I bought at Payless… fit me nice and have a decently firm sole.
Wish someone would put out some cycling specific sandals that met my specific needs (needs to have unconnected strap around the heel -like the Keen’s- needs to have a soft cloth/leather inner foot lining -like Teva’s …not like Chacos!- needs to only have two straps that go over the feet and no toe guard, ALSO! It needs to be available in WIDE, as I have duck feet). Most sandals don’t come like that, believe it or not. And definitely nothing for cycling (they’re all too narrow).
I would kill for cycling sandals, with SPD or without….
Give me Jackie’s contact info and I’ll get in touch with her… I have very specific standards that need to be upheld!
Nice. Kinda like the ol’ school Vans. I get visions of Jeff Spicoli in a pair of these.
except these suck..all of the shoes by chrome have the same basic construction. my pair came apart at the sole in a week and a half. The “vulcanized construction was glued back together at this point by me and and lasted another week.
LAME.
