Chrome x PEDALLAS = Yalta!

Chrome’s new backpack, the Yalta (which we shared with you a few posts back), has made it into our hands! We’ve given it a full week of use and abuse and we can say we love the damn thing!

First Impression: This bag is nothing shy of what Chrome always delivers in it’s premium goods. It’s simple, straightforward and sleek. The branding Chrome has employed is superb, there’s great attention to detail.

As with any rolltop, the simple yet ingenious design allows you limitless capacity, carrying whatever you please. Additionally, there is an awesome side compartment that allows for more containment, equipped with a laptop sleeve –suitable for my Mackbook 15″ with room to spare. The outer zipper compartment is also a haus, carrying tons of your smaller items. In that compartment, I kept two of my camera battery chargers, a pocket video recorder, my point and shoot, a mini tripod, an iPhone charger and my cycling gloves, with no bulk to show for. Over all dimensions of the Yalta read : 14″ x 21″ high x 6″ deep and a volume of 29L. A lightweight bag that packs a punch.

A heavy load never felt so good (that’s what she said). Whether you load this thing up with bulk and beyond or attire for an overnight stay, the backpack molds to your body with comfort at all times. The compression molded EVA back panel gives the perfect amount of cushion, while allowing your back to breathe. Initially, I wasn’t fond of the shoulder straps, as I prefer thick, heavily padded straps akin to the Northface backpacks. Although skeptic, the straps actually prevailed and feel really good while riding. The straps are meshed and provide great breathability while embracing you and keeping the load close to the core. For even more stability, a chest strap is available and at your service–the double pull system is a plus.

All of the riders in the video have independently given this bag positive feedback, most commonly how comfortable it feels when riding. At the end of the day, this bag is a keeper. It’s just right in size, yet holds everything you need for the daily grind. Lightweight and weatherproof with its’ 1,000 denier tarpaulin shell. I give this bag an A+.

If you’re looking to spoil yourself, or give the perfect gift to your favorite cyclist, the Yalta would be just the thing. Chrome’s giving away free 2nd day shipping on orders over $50 if ordered by the 20th. Yes! That’s TOMORROW…or TODAY!!!! (depending when you’re reading this). If you’re from Texas or shipping to Texas, it looks like Chrome has opened up shop with free ground shipping for ya. Happy Holidays!

Special thanks to all the riders: Raul, Richard, Miguel, Arnold, Viktor, Mario and Graham. Most especially Corinne!
