Maria Avina Benefit Recap
So I hit up the benefit tonight supporting Maria, the woman who was hit by another cyclist, and let me tell you it was ridiculously fun. Tons of stuff to enjoy from Gold Sprints to track stand competitions, discounted beer, and did I mention meeting new cyclists. I got to sit down with Maria and talk to her about the night the accident occurred, her hospitalization and her recovery. She seemed quite moved by the support and concern by us Dallas Cyclists. Mad respect goes out to everyone that put this together, from the artists who donated work, The Quarter Bar for being a great host, and the folks behind the scenes that planned out the event and executed it with perfection.
Share the Road: A benefit to help Maria Avina
Maria was struck by another cyclist on the Santa Fe Trail during a Tits Tuesday ride. She suffered a fractured jaw and elbow and had to get surgery for an infection near her eye. HBCB along with Tits Tuesday, Quarter Bar and local supporters want to help her with her enormous hospital bills.
Their goal: $5000.
If your free tomorrow, Sunday, July 10th, the Quarter Bar is hosting a fun filled night of music, GoldSprints, drink specials and more!

Ride of Silence re-cap
Another great ride, with a real good purpose. We’re so used to riding fast, or like me quasi-fast, and chatting up a storm with our cycling buddies about current events that it’s refreshing to ride with others at a slower pace and to have the time to reflect on other cyclists that have passed on. As the ride came to a close we rode into a parking lot with the sounds of a bag pipe playing. This for me was the perfect final touch. It was awesome to hang out with some of our friends from Bicycle Friendly Knox-Henderson and Bicycle Friendly Deep Ellum .
Ride of Silence
If your free this Wednesday (May 18,2011) at 7:00 pm head on down to White Rock Lake for the annual Ride Of Silence , a silent ride in memory of all those cyclist that have passed on. The ride will start on the west side of White Rock Lake at the Branchfield-Fisher (aka Boat Launching) parking lot. Approximately 3800 W. Lawther Road. Hope to see you there, this is one of the best rides you will go on!
Lakewoodstock
I went to Lakewoodstock today and there was much fun that was had. Lakewood’s version of Woodstock trades the Jimi Hendrix Experience for Local Kid Bands, and LSD for some Yarn Bombing on trees and light posts. The best thing of the whole event was Boy Scout Troop 325 provided all us cyclists with valet bicycle parking.
