Bastille on Bishop

Bastille on Bishop

Bicycle Friendly Oak Cliff & Go Oak Cliff put together another beautiful event. This was my first year to attend Bastille on Bishop, even though I missed the mussels, I was able to enjoy Matt Tolentino jamming on his accordion and the taste of french fries and sausages. [nggallery id=43]

Southern Hospitality

I am in Houston for the weekend, so I was able to attend Houston's Critical Mass ride yesterday.  I talked to the shop guy and girl at Houston Fixed Gear about the ride and they were really friendly and told me to expect a crowd of around 400.  All varieties ...

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market & Farmers Market

Yesterday I rode to two different outdoor markets: The Deep Ellum Outdoor Market, which showcases local artisans' goods (and where I ran into Colin of Switching Gears Cyclery), and the Farmer's Market, where I went to sample and choose some tasty produce.  Choosing to go by bike to these markets ...

Ride of Silence re-cap

Ride of Silence re-cap

Another great ride, with a real good purpose. We're so used to riding fast, or like me quasi-fast, and chatting up a storm with our cycling buddies about current events that it's refreshing to ride with others at a slower pace and to have the time to reflect on other ...

Locals: Brandon

Brandon is one of the fastest I know… Seriously! This guy is a beast when it comes to pushing those pedals.  He’s been a supporter of our site from the get go–thanks bro!  He was also a participant in our latest alleycat, the NightShift and rightfully  took 1st place.  If you ever get a chance to meet this guy, be sure to say what’s up!

Brew Riot

I met up at the Lilly Pad at Main Street Garden Park to ride down to the Brew Riot with Cycle Celebration yesterday. It was a bit humid and hot, but the head winds kept us cool. When we arrived to the Brew Riot I did not expect so many people to be out there. The line to get a wristband was intimidating but it moved fast. We all drank good beer, ate tasty burgers, and hung out with great buds.

Been A Good Minute

Steven Jensen from SKYLMT on Vimeo.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen an edit that makes me just wanna lose it! Hands down, Jensen going wild. Reminds me of my buddy Hector from H-Town.

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market & Farmers Market

Yesterday I rode to two different outdoor markets: The Deep Ellum Outdoor Market, which showcases local artisans’ goods (and where I ran into Colin of Switching Gears Cyclery), and the Farmer’s Market, where I went to sample and choose some tasty produce.  Choosing to go by bike to these markets was great, because I got to notice lots of little details along the way, like an apartment building decorated with roosting crows (You know, “Put a bird on it”)!  Cycling to these destinations also forced me to be extra selective of the fruits and vegetables I chose to purchase, since I had to carry them home with me on my bike.

Locals: Dallas

This is Dallas, one of Oak Cliff’s very own cyclists and commuters, and his stunning handmade Serotta. You can’t help but stare at this beautiful piece of machinery, its faded color scheme and components. I’ve ridden with Dallas multiple times, and I know I say this about pretty much all the LOCALS, but Dallas is truly  a friendly and down-to-earth guy.  If you happen to be in the saddle next to this guy, be sure to bring your A game, because he can really haul.

Locals: Joel

Say hi to my buddy Joel and his beautiful Colnago. I met Joel whenever I began to go to the Lonestar Goldsprints, which throws really fun races, and I later learned he was a bike mechanic. He has fixed up my mountain bike in the past when I feel the need for dirt, and he knows exactly how to get your baby running pristinely. Now you may drool over his bike :P
